He's Still Got It!

Oh yea, that's my hubby jumping over that bar! After working with his high jumpers, he thought he would see if he still has it....and he does. I could have told him that...wink wink. Now even though it's not the height he broke records with while in high school and college, he still cleared it and he is carrying some extra ..... metal in his hip (y'all thought I was going to say weight didn't you...sheesh). That's right...hip replacement and all he is still the man. :)

WHAT-A-WEEKEND

Whataburger's commercials state that when you eat at their establishment, you can "have it your way". Well that is how I felt about my weekend....I "had it my way". Gene didn't have a basketball tournament so he was home with us and we just got to enjoy time with family and friends.

We were up a little early for a 10am t-ball game between the Pirates and the Nationals. Yes, the boys in black and gold came out with the win! Here is Logan and a couple of his buddies walking to the field. We need to work on Logan's game face!
Logan played a few innings at pitcher and did fairly well. Here he is throwing to his bud, Devin at first base. Devin's face is priceless! If you are wondering if they got the poor little guy out....ummm...hello...of course they did!
Cameron and Logan got to play after the game at our house and then Logan had his first official sleepover at Cam's house. He has slept over at Nana's house and some of our friends but not one of his buddies. What a milestone! :) Can I tell you how quiet my house was....holy cow.

Cam's little brother, Karson kept us entertained with his rodeo skills...don't you just want to pinch his cute little cheeks!
WHATAWEEKEND wouldn't be complete without Gene putting some burgers and ribs on the grill. My friend Amanda came over with her mom and kids and we hung out and visited and had some great food...thanks honey...yum! It was extra hard getting up this morning to go back to work but well worth it. Nothing like good times with friends, family and good food...not to mention watching a little butt-kicking Pirates do their thing.

CLASS of 2022!!!

CLASS of 2022!! Logan is standing in the middle...what a cute bunch!

Logan hanging out on the Great Lawn

Logan and his 5th grade buddy, Logan (he thought it was so cool that they had the same name)

Can you tell I don't want my little boy to grow up!!

Logan had his Kindergarten picnic today at All Saints' to meet his future classmates... the Class of 2022! That just seems so crazy and far off but I know it will be here before we know it. He was so excited for today. They got to eat pizza in the gym while the parents went to an info session about what to expect during the Kindergarten year. After pizza, the kids were taken out to the Great Lawn to play games. I am so ready for Logan to join us at All Saints' and I know he is too! One of his classmates' Dad is a very popular country music star...I even have him on my playlist. How cool is that!! We are very blessed to be able to have our children at such a fabulous school!

RYDELL HIGH???

While Logan enjoyed his picnic day with his new classmates, the girls got to dress up in 50's attire. Our Drama dept. is putting on the play, Grease and so the entire school dressed to support them. They had a blast dressing up (and not being in uniform :))

Kansas' 1st 5k

My first-born about to run her first-5k

Kansas with her All Saints' group before the race...see the girl to the left with the tiara on her head...that's Ms. Fort Worth (notice she wasn't participating in the race...surprise)

A couple of weeks ago, Kansas ran into my office after school and told me she wanted to run the 5K at the Fort Worth Zoo. I signed her up and today the rain held off so the race could take place. She met up with the All Saints' group at the starting line and they were off! I would have run it with her if I didn't have a tennis match....seriously I would have! Gene and I have been running every morning at 5:30am so I think I could handle a little 5K...maybe. :)(they do have free food at the finish line so I will have an incentive to finish) She had a blast and I am so proud of her for participating. Next year we are going to do it as a family minus our bulldog Gracie. She would make it 10 yards and then have an asthma attack...kind of sounds like some of the kids I coach...hehe. Kansas-Daddy and I are so proud of you and look forward to watching you run in many more races.

Look at these guns baby!

He looks like he just finished a fight with his tooth gone!!

I need to start making them do some push-ups or something....

Yep...can you believe it....Logan takes these guns to preschool...HA!! He cracks me up...he loves to wear the UnderArmour type shirts to show off his "muscles" but he doesn't realize that he weighs 2 pounds...well he looks like it at least. I don't know what happened to my 9lb 11oz chubby baby I gave birth to? Anyways he thought it would be funny to come flex for me...he even kissed both of his biceps....really?...where did he learn that from. His sisters joined in the fun and showed off their skinny little arms as well. It's a good thing I didn't join in...y'all would really be intimidated!! :)

No Empty Nets!!

Here is the devotional for today from Pastor Greg Laurie....My net wasn't empty when I went fishing this weekend...I caught a BIG one and I know that God has BIG plans for my life as well! Guide me Lord...

Wednesday, April 15, 2009Gone Fishing
Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also."
John 21:3
How many times have you wanted to leave your problems behind, get away from it all, and hang the "Gone fishing" sign on your office door? After the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, the disciples were waiting in Galilee for Jesus as He had instructed them. Not knowing what else to do, they decided, under the leadership of Peter, to go out and fish. The apostle John tells the story like this:
Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. (John 21:3–4)Well, these disciples went out fishing and they caught nothing. That was not a bad thing. But Jesus had them catch nothing to prove a point, which was the futility and uselessness of living our lives without the direction and blessing of Jesus. You can aim at your goals. You can work hard in business, work hard at everything you hold dear, and still your dreams may not be fulfilled because you did not have the Lord direct your life. You did not invite Him to bless your plan or, more importantly, direct you in your plans. So often we will think, It's my life and my future and my career and my family and my money. We forget that we belong to God.We need to remember—it's God's life. It's His future. He is so gracious and loving. He wants to guide and direct your steps. Did you know that? God has a custom-designed plan just for your life. Keep that in mind as you think about your future. Say, "Lord, what do You want me to do? I don't want to go fishing and pull up empty nets. I want You to direct me. I want You to guide me."

No Technology...Just Nature

My BIG catch...next to my hubby that is

The Easter egg hunt...the camo eggs were really hard to find
Logan flying his kite...the cows were wondering what the heck he was doing

Trinity's first fish...she was so excited!!

My mom, sisters and me...Mill was a little sleepy :)

The cousins...they look like a rough group don't they

JoJo took everyone around all day...he was the tour guide

The kids and I headed out to the country this morning to spend time with our family. Gene stayed at home because we finally got someone to come lay our tile...it looks awesome!!! One of the many things that I like about being out in the country is that you don't need any sort of technology ....you just relax and enjoy nature and hanging with your loved ones. The kids weren't looking for their Nintendo DS's or Disney Channel and my oldest nephew wasn't texting the entire time.....such a nice break from the norm. What we did do was fish, fly kites, ride the 4-wheelers, go on hikes, hunt for Easter eggs.....you can't beat that! We had a great time as usual and Trinity and I actually each caught a fish. Mine was the best catch I've ever had.....besides my husband of course. He's cuter at least....but my fish didn't roll his/hers (not sure) eyes when I had my sister snap "Just 1 more picture". Uhh...it's close but I still think my husband wins as being my best catch ever....he did stay back and miss the fish catching to get our tile done! Above are a few pictures from our "technology-free" day...ok so I had to upload my fish picture to facebook right away but that is it ...I promise.

Easter Egg Hunts, Surprises & Black Eyes???

Logan's team had practice yesterday and they got to end practice with an innocent little Easter egg hunt....or so we thought. One of the players lives right next to the practice field so the moms hid the eggs in his front lawn. We gave each of the boys a baseball Easter basket and let them go wild.

Pirates after the hunt....happy campers except for the only girl on their team that is in the back in tears....not sure why
Coach John supervising the Mayhem

Coach tells the kids that there are 2 eggs in the middle of the street...see the kiddos heading towards the moving car....nice job coach...all the parents yelled NO...and the kids stopped. But don't worry....we got coach back...little did he know we had confetti eggs with us as well..... He thought he got away quick enough but someone gave one of us lunatic moms his pass code and we got into his car and tagged him!! The kids had a blast throwing eggs at him.
he had to quickly hop out of his car so it wouldn't get destroyed by the confetti...(too late)....the boys chased him around the field and got him with over 3 dozen eggs. All of a sudden I hear the crowd go "OOH...got him in the eye" I ask who did and of course a dad responds "Logan". Just great...leave it to my son to give his coach a black eye. He was 10 ft away but he still got him pretty good. So hopefully Logan will still be allowed on the team. :)

Here is Coach's eye right after it happened
On a less violent note......

When I got home last night I had a message from my Aunt that a package should be waiting on my door. Sure enough there was a little Easter surprise for the kiddos from their Auntie Liz!! I took a picture of the girls with their treat....my lil' slugger was still asleep. I guess he had way too much action yesterday. He did tell me after practice, "I had so much fun today mommy...thank you for signing me up for t-ball". Ahhh!!!

Basketball Widow

Team Ichiban- Tournament Champions!!!

The AAU season has begun for Gene so I am officially a basketball widow until July. Every evening and most weekends are consumed with basketball...basketball and more basketball. It has been that way since we have been married. Anyone feel sorry for me yet? Yesterday we went to watch his teams play....it was nice to get out of the house after cleaning all weekend. I think I have probably been in over a thousand different gyms...at least...that has got to be some sort of record. Anyways....Ichiban (means #1 in Japanese) came out with the tournament win. Nice job!! I write constantly about how proud I am of my kids so I thought I would mention that I am also proud of the hubby. He has helped many kids thoughout his coaching career and I'm sure he will help many more. By the way...if you noticed..he isn't smiling in this picture either....see y'all thought it was just pictures with me! :)

Prayers for Stellan

Kansas and Trinity..praying for Stellan!

Stellan, one of the little babies I have mentioned a few times before is still in the hospital struggling with a heart condition. Things are looking up for him yet he is still in the PICU and needs prayers. His mom's blog is one that I check daily and on her site she has a link that will take you to Stellan's name gallery. It is the most amazing thing. People from all over the WORLD.....not state, not country.....are praying for this sweet boy. His gallery has proof of this because people write his name in different ways and in the most amazing places. It's very cool! I'm not creative...at all but I did manage to make the gallery with the picture of the girls in the bluebonnets. It is our State flower and I just love this time of year when they are all over the place. This picture was taken on our campus after school. We are honored Stellan to be a part of your name gallery and we will continue to pray for you and your family! You are an inspiration to us all!

Taking it all for granted

My little Pirate and his biggest fan

I have been addicted to reading these blogs about these children who are so very sick. It saddens me and I think about these sweet babies all day long. When I am home with my 3...I find myself getting impatient and frustrated with the sibling rivalry and whining. Then I think of all the moms who are waking each day wondering how much time they have left with their little one.....the guilt I feel overwhelms me. I take my children for granted and that has got to stop. I am blessed to be the mom of 3 beautiful and healthy children. They don't stay little for long so I need to sit back and take it all in.....love on my babies even more than I do now and laugh with them often.
No better time to start then the present...my little pirate just got back from Chuck E Cheese...I know it's late but he was hanging with his teammates, having fun and he is only 5 (not in "real" school yet)! He wants me to read him a story after he "takes the browns to the superbowl"...Chucky's will do that to ya.... :)! By the way...the Pirates won 15-0!!!
