Billy Bobs and Cowtown Fun

Well my Aunt Liz came to Texas a couple days ago and we haven't let her slow down since! When you come to Fort Worth, you have to visit Billy Bobs...I mean it is the World's Largest Honkytonk. Don't worry, I've forgiven my Aunt for asking, "What is a Honkytonk?". She is from California so we will let that slide. :) She did get to ride the bull...we do it big time in Texas!!
The poor bull had to deal with my 3....he'll never be the same.
Under the neon lights....

Billy Bobs was my second home in college. My friends and I loved going dancing there and we knew every bartender and bouncer in the place. It was fun taking my family back to my old stomping grounds.

We walked around the Stockyards for a bit then headed to the infamous Joe T's for some yummy Mexican food. It doesn't get any better than that!

Aunt Liz and the kiddos enjoying their feast.

We also went by our school so she can see where the kids go and where Gene and I work. It is definitely our second home now but we love it!

Poor Aunt Liz is going to be exhausted when she gets back to California. When we picked her up from the airport on day 1 we took her to Dallas to see the American Girl Store.

We ate lunch at the Galleria and did a little shopping. Gene had a home cooked meal waiting on us for dinner and after we ate, we headed down the street to feed the fish at the lake. In just 24 hours, we have experienced 3 cities....only in the great state of TEXAS!!
Today we are traveling to Houston to see the rest of the family. It has been so much fun having my Auntie here. I'm looking forward to the rest of her visit.

Summer....What Summer?

So obviously I have been neglecting my poor blog.....but for good reason...sorta. I am officially a Maverick again. This July I started my Masters degree in Educational Leadership. It has been interesting being a student again. Studying with a 6 year old asking you 900 questions is somewhat challenging!

We have not been doing much this summer but taking advantage of living next to the lake. The kids love going to the beach area and swimming. Above Kansas is with Kristian, our neighbor.

Gene and I've actually enjoyed a couple of date nights. Woohoo!!!

The girls have also been playing basketball....and eating pretzels. :) I enjoy being able to watch them play together.

Last but definitely not least....my Aunt Liz arrived today for a short visit. We will be heading to Houston to see the rest of the family this weekend but tomorrow we will hit COWTOWN!!! Giddy Up!!

Wish I was this CREATIVE!

At first glance you would think this is a picture of a bunch of sweet kids.....well think again, they are in fact SPIES!!!! They have invaded a birthday party and ready for their mission!

My spy-cam captured a picture of them getting ready to do their training exercises. Man do they look intimidating....especially the first in line.

This little guy looks familiar....he is moving sooo fast that he is blurry to the human eye! The "football coach" looking gentleman must be their instructor. No wonder they are such a tough group!

There is no obstacle they will not go through to get in tip-top shape!

Here they are with the birthday girl trying to blend in as if they are normal citizens. They sure can pull off the "sweet and cute" look can't they! I'm not fooled though.....I know who they really are!
Not even super-lasers can stop them.....they glide through them with ease.

I can't put my finger on it but I swear I have seen this one before. He looks so familiar.

As I'm sure you've already guessed....the kids got to attend a birthday party for their friend and it was a Spy theme. How cute is that!!! I wish I was that creative!!! Stacie, the birthday mom had all these great ideas and the kids had a blast!! They went through Lasers (yarn) and had to train at the obstacle course and then find clues that lead them to the prize.

Here are all the Spies ready to accomplish their first mission.

I caught me a spy....he is a smack talking spy....

that likes to play basketball.... :)

The winning group...they got through their clues first and won the prize!!

The party of course ended with CAKE....one of my favorite parts! :)
We had a great time at the Spy party! It was so much fun hanging with friends and watching the kids have a great time away from the TV and Wii! Thank you to Stacie and Michael for inviting us!! I plan on having Stacie plan my kids next bday party....she is so creative!

Rain Is A Good Thing

Not a lot has been happening over the last week at the Watts' Household. It has been raining off and on for the past 7 days. Gene and I were able to get some yard work done with the help of the kids so it has been nice to have Mother Nature do the watering for us. I have been studying for the GRE because I start my Masters on Monday. Wish me luck! Should be interesting....As usual, life is going by at lightning speed and I just wish it would slow down.

Logan has been going to the gym with Gene a lot and getting on the shooting machine. He works so hard at sports and it's crazy to think his parents are both coaches and HE is the one that bugs us to go workout. I guess it's in his blood! He asked Gene if he could get Kobe Bryant's # cut into his hair. I am not usually for that type of "hair style" but it looks darn cute on my little guy. I remember watching the NBA finals with Logan and he said "Mommy, when I'm in the NBA, I want you to sit on the front row so I can run by and give you a high-five". Ok...it still makes me tear up with a smile when I think about it. At least he knows I am his biggest fan and will always be!
I bet 20 years from now, little boys will be wanting "Logan Watts'" # in the back of their hair! :) What can I say...I'm proud of him!
Gene and I actually got to enjoy a night out on Friday. We went to PF Changs for dinner and then saw the movie, Grown Ups. It was soooo funny!!! We laughed the entire time. We had some time between dinner and the movie and went to Barnes and Nobles to look at some books for the kids. Logan had asked me if I would read him the story about Ferdinand the Bull (like Sandra Bullock did on Blind Side :)) so we bought it. When we got home, the kids were still up and after Gene took the sitter home (thanks Merit) we sat as a family and Trinity read the story to us. I know in a blink of an eye, our kids will be teenagers and that sort of time together will be few and far between so I will enjoy it now....even if it's at midnight!
On our way out to dinner.
I hope everyone has a Happy 4th of July with friends and family!!
